Don, thanks for this thoroughly thought provoking round-up of commentary on one of my favorite films, noir or otherwise. Next semester I'll be teaching a course on the "great noir directors" and THIEVES' HIGHWAY will be the representative film from Dassin. This compendium of information will indeed prove to be quite useful! Thanks again!
