A simply great selection of films and the quality of the projection was perfect, imho. I was able to catch one of the last double features, THE CRIMSON KIMONO and THE SCREAMING MIMI. I have been obsessed with James Shigeta, one of the leads of TCK, ever since. What a terrific film this Samuel Fuller-directed effort is...and woefully undiscussed and underrated. I loved the exploration into the Japanese community and their mindset, so unusual. Lots of room for atmosphere and artful photography of Japanese milieus, children dressed in costumes, etc. And fascinating performances by all 3 leads. Mimi is just sort of kitsch...fun to watch, but unsubstantial, with an entertaining dollop of nostalgic unwholesomeness. Both of the films focused on strippers as characters.
Thanks for bringing all these fine films into the community Elliot, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
