Here in San Francisco, at the historic 100 year-old ROXIE THEATER, we have officially wrapped up our thirteen day, twenty-two film BEST OF COLUMBIA FILM NOIR festival. Attendance was tremendous and the overall consensus is that the films were great and the quality of the archive prints was simply fantastic! From my own personal standpoint as the festival's programmer, I couldn't be more pleased. Being able to showcase films like THE BURGLAR, JOHNNY O'CLOCK, SO DARK THE NIGHT, DRIVE A CROOKED ROAD, THE WHISTLER, SOUL OF A MONSTER, NIGHTFALL, KNOCK ON ANY DOOR and all the other great titles has been a definite highlight in my twenty year career in this racket. The ROXIE has had a long and glorious history as the City's leading venue for film noir and it's great to see the joint regain its hard earned status.
I plan on returning to the ROXIE in the spring of 2010 with another great program of noir classics and curios. I hope to see some of you here then! A big thank you to the Blackboarders who attended this time around!
