Bancroft was also in the extremely odd 1957 demento-noir THE GIRL IN BLACK STOCKINGS. She left behind a unique noir legacy.
Ulmer. No further need to extrapolate on the greatness of he and his stunning array of noirness. And don't forget THE BLACK CAT (1934), the cinematic equivalent to the grotesquely lurid horror pulp magazines of its time. On the Mount Rushmore of Planet Noir, Ulmer's mug is carved prominently among the others.
