It is always a question when a recruit decides to leave, even in this day and age where plays have played at 3 seperate schools during their eligability.
I never want a recruit to leave but it is a fact of life in todays College programs, even worse in Basketball. Maybe he simply was not a good fit and needed to move on.
As for him being a 4 star recruit, I never get that excited about the star recruiting system as several of the different recruiting services have the young men rated differently. Some of these services do not even rate junior College transfers while others automatically give thema t least a 3 star rating.
I always think of Jason Gwaltney the much heralded 5 star recruit at running back who was perhaps the biggest recruiting disaster in Mountaineer football history.
Of course in Basketball there was Jonathon Hargett a 5 star recruit with a 5 page criminal record!!!!!!
Davonte James will be missed but there may be more to the story, the university has been very low key on this transfer.
: WVU football had recruited a 4 star
: recruit. He started college at WVU in
: Jan. He is leaving the program
: 1. The coach who recruited him left
: 2. He very much wanted to play
: linebacker, but apparently it was
: decided that he would play defensive
: So. he left.
: When he was recruited, he should have
: been told that he could play linebacker
: or he should have been told he would be
: expected to play what ever position the
: coaches said. His understanding should
: have been clear!
: With a hot shot defensive end coming in
: for the year, why not leave him at line
: We don't get that many 4 star recruits.
: I am frustrated.
