In some regards I agree with you. If WVU is going to remain a big time program and attract big name athletes then it is going to have to offer them big time exposure on the D1 football scene.

: It sounds like we're going to return to
: the same lame schedules we had for the
: past 15 years or so.
:
: Just when things were starting to move
: in the right direction with Colorado,
: Auburn, Michigan St. and Florida State,
: now we'll be back to Maryland,
: Marshall, East Carolina, VT and I-AA
: Cupcake U.
:
: B-O-R-I-N-G
:
: Granted, I'd like to see us play
: Marshall every year because of what it
: does for the state and rotating
: Maryland and VT in and out on an annual
: basis is not a bad idea. However, I
: don't think feasting on I-AA Sirloin
: Steak U every year does anything for us
: and East Carolina--while they are a
: nice opponent--doesn't do much for
: national exposure and recruiting
: either. If the Big East wants a ninth
: football school, give the ultimatum to
: ND or boot them for B-ball and bring in
: someone like ECU or UCF for all sports.
:
: Maybe I'm out on my own here, but the
: down-home-way-we've-always-done-it
: approach that may be seeping back into
: the program is old and won't work in
: today's college football landscape.
: Take a look at the other big programs
: out there and see how they're doing it
: (and the rewards they're reaping).
:
: After Oregon stomped Michigan last
: year, the talk was VT vs. LSU. Prior
: to that it was Ohio St. vs Texas. This
: year it will be Ohio St. vs USC. USC
: is even going across the country to
: open against Virginia (and has a future
: date with Syracuse). Ohio St. has
: Miami (FL) on its future schedule.
: UCLA has Tennessee and Texas. Maryland
: even broke up with us to go out with
: Cal a few times.
:
: We're in danger of taking a major step
: backward here. Remember how much we
: loved, "Yeah, West Virginia is
: good, but when you take a look at who
: they've played..."
:
: Are we really willing to go through
: that again?
