Nice write up JR!
I heard on ESPN that Bill Stewart resigned from VMI due to an alleged racial slur directed at one of the players. Do you have any info on this and hopefully it will not affect recruiting.

: Hello Mountaineers
:
: What a great performance by the
: Mountaineers on both sides of the
: football. They simply punched the
: Sooners in the face all night long from
: the first series of the football game.
: I would have never believed that this
: football team could be that focused
: with everything they have gone through
: the past month, a real tribute to coach
: Stewart who was thrust into an
: impossible situation and made it work.
:
: As for the hire of Bill Stewart as Head
: Football coach for the next 5 years, I
: feel he has a chance to do a great job
: at West Virginia. He has the type of
: personality to reach young people and I
: think the reference of "Mr
: Rodgers" in John Larkins post is
: totally uncalled for. I guess in todays
: world you are less a man if your not a
: 'tough Guy' whith a hard ass attitude.
:
: I will say I generally do not agree
: with hiring someone after such an
: emotional victory and I have seen that
: type of hire fail here at Michigan
: State.
:
: when Nick Saban left MSU to take the
: LSU job his Spartan team had finished
: at 10-2 good for 2nd place in the Big
: Ten and were invited to face Steve
: Spurrier's Florida Gators in the
: Capital One Bowl on New Years Day.
:
: Saban left before the Bowl game just
: like Rodriguez did and his assistant
: head coach Bobby Williams coached the
: Spartans in the Bowl game and upset the
: Gators. After the game the players all
: spoke out that they wanted Bobby as
: their new head coach and MSU hired him.
: Well it didn't work out and a few
: season later he was let go.
:
: The difference is that Bobby Williams
: had limited coaching experiance at the
: time he was hired and had only been at
: MSU a few seasons and had no previous
: ties to MSU or the State.
:
: In the case of coach Stewart he has
: been at WVU for 7 seasons and was
: originally hired by Don Nehlen and
: coach Rodriguez saw enough in him to
: retain him when he got the job. He is
: 55 years old and will not be flirting
: with any Big Schools every season.
:
: At his introduction today he made it
: clear that if he cannot get the job
: done they University will not have to
: fire him he will leave on his own.
:
: As for hiring some quality assistants
: only time will tell how that plays out.
: He may not need to hire very many as
: defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel said
: today that he has made no committment
: to go to Michigan and they will sort
: through all of this soon.
:
: As for Getting coach Stewart "On
: the Cheap" I never expected him to
: make as much as Rodriguez. The report
: is he will make over $800,000 a season
: which seems pretty reasonable for a
: first time head coach. Stewart made
: $147,000 this season so it is a pretty
: good bump in salary.
:
: Perhaps the University will have a
: little more to give a new offensive
: coordinator. We simply will have to see
: how all this plays out.
:
: Who knows now that Coach Rodriguez is
: gone they might even convince Rick
: Tricket to return to West Virginia.
:
: Until we see which coaches leave and
: which ones stay it is all speculation
: by us as fans.
