At first I thought it was a bad idea. After thinking about it...Bill pulled that team together for the Fiesta after losing to Pitt and the unscrupulous RamRod. Yes, Rod and staff recruited those players, Magee was coaching in the Fiesta...BUT the team played for Bill as well as themselves and everyone heard the comments made by Pat and Owen after the game. Also, I'd like to point out the article on Devine three days after RamRod quit. Devines initial reaction was to transfer; however, after 3 practices with Bill he decided to stay. Reason: Bill gave praise when it was warranted. Unlike RamRod who apparently spent most of the time screaming at the kids when it wasn't warranted. Now Bill is going to have to find a happy median; pull the reins when necessary otherwise just guide the kids and let their talent do the rest. We'll have to keep an eye on recruiting as well. I say give the guy a shot and if it doesn't work then release him.
One thing that could hurt him is the alleged racial slur directed at one of the VMI players when Bill was an assistant there. He resigned shortly after that.....
