Leather Jackets????

I just bought my first bike (a Triumph Speed Four) and now I'm looking for a sturdy, safe leather jacket to wear before I start tooling around. I'm interested in something that has armor in the elbows, shoulders, and spine. I was interested in the Arlen Ness Metal Jacket, but some people told me that their jackets are not built well at all. I'm particularly interested in hearing from folks who own a particular jacket and what they think of it. THANKS!!!!
