I just got my 2003 KLR 250 broke in 2 days ago. 1000 + miles. When cruzing dirt roads mine runs at high noon also, about 5000rpms/50mph. When I hit the highways at 60 or 70 mph my temp gauge goes down to about the second dot. When I play around in the dirt with low gear high rpms the gauge goes almost to red and the fan comes on. I have not been able to get a straight answer as to "How hot is to hot and for how long?" What will happen if I run in the red for a long time while just playing around? Also my gas tank whistles a lot from the cap, don't know what this is yet. 99 times out of 100 starts it fires on the 2nd kick when cold, always 1 kick when hot. (Wish sometimes for electric start). I love my 2003 KLR 250 and can't wait till my next ride. Anyone know where I can get a tank bag that fits well.
