KLR 650 Exhaust whistle

I just bought a 99 KLR 650 and there is a funny whistling noise from the exhaust. It kind of sounds like an old air cooled VW Beatle. Is this noise normal? The bike runs absolutly perfect otherwise. The bike is all stock by the way. Any help would be appreciated.
