: Congrats...I have the 2001 KLR250...love it.
: Break in is not complete on your
: bike....break in is first 1000 miles ...so
: take it easy. Keep the rpm's under 6000
: for the next 500 miles. And I think you
: did get a good deal. I paid $3600 for the
: 2001 with 192miles on it. I now have over
: 3000 miles on it. You can get the rear
: rack for it from the kawi dealer. I bought
: a tank bag for an ATV that fits my bike
: perfect (with a little modifing) I also
: bought a fender pac to my tools in, which
: gives you more room in the rear factory
: bag for rain gear and band aids. Enjoy !!!
: take care

:yeah sounds like you did get a good deal on your bike. i had never rode any kind of bike before. but as you had said that you wanted one at an early age, so had i. i am not much help as as far as TIP's. since this is my first bike. my father passed in march this year and with me being 32 (mid life???) i was driving by a dealer and jsut walked in and bought it ... what the hell life is short. the dealer asked if i wanted to test drive one, i said not unless you want to show me how to ride. sorry back to subject, i followed the break in period as the manual stated and as the previous response had also. i was a little concerned at first because the better i got at riding i thought the power of the bike would not be enough (rpms at 4,000 and then 6,000). now that i have about 1,300. i definetly could tell that the engine has "loosened up" and i am sure that i have more than enough power for the riding i intend to do. the power band is actually all the way through the rpms and gives a nice little extra after 6,000. the only complaint is that the front end is heavy, but if i had to choose again i would go again with the klr 250.
take it easy and good riding to everyone, dan
