I like the "citizen Queen" image. A hereditary sovereign is supposed to symbolise the fact that our shared humanity is the basis of the civil society in which we live. Our cause will not be helped if we continue to make the Queen look more aloof than she really is, and the "citizen Queen" effigy has the potential to make HM look like one of us (and, as far as I know, Canadian coins with Edward VIII and George VI on them make both monarchs look like "citizen Kings").
More importantly, the current effigy is smiling; I always thought that previous versions made the Queen look a bit stoical.
