All this because a minister of the Crown said "ties to the United Kingdom". To my mind, we have a 100% Canadian monarchy, which does have ties to the United Kingdom, which has a 100% British monarchy. The sovereign happens to be the same person in both realms, so it's normal that we would have "ties" to that kingdom. It has nothing to do with British ethnicity. Look, the monarchy is here to stay OK? Some people should stop worrying about what republicans think. I mean there were actually "monarchists" on this board and the Facebook page who were opposed to renaming the RCN and the RCAF because it sent the wrong message!
