Superbly well put.
I as well am very concerned that many media groups are choosing to make this a Conservative eccentricity (like Diefenbaker's nearly inappropriate adoration of the Queen) and it could polarize an idea that leftism must be apathetic or hostile to the Crown and right-wingers must rush to it and clasp it to their breasts.
All the more reason for left-wing monarchists to be as vocal as possible and for the League members who care to contact the PMO and complain of the very poor public profile of pro-monarchist actions when the Ministers involved cite 'ties with the UK' as reasons for the action. Even PM Harper himself gave one of the most bizarre Victoria Day messages on record. We are right to try and steer them in the wrong direction.
Sometimes non-vocal monarchism is better than weird, ill-informed monarchism.
