The only thing I'm worried about is how the results of an election could affect the planned royal tour this summer, or, by extension, the projects that have been proposed in anticipation of the Queen's diamond jubilee in 2012.
Because all of this has been planned under the current Conservative government, I fear that the opposition parties may (however irrationally) come to associate these wonderful opportunities, for the Canadian Crown to be made even more visible, too closely with a Conservative agenda and thus look upon the tour and the jubilee as a form of "excessive spending." I could be wrong of course, but I sure hope that the royal tour doesn't figure into an election campaign...
