I can't stand Rex Murphy personally his commentary are always such a waste of airtime.
I don't get a feeling that this tour is a farewell tour what-so-ever. Comparing the first tour of HM in 1957 to the present one is ridiculous! Of course the crowds are smaller. 1) There is a little thing called TV and Internet. People can watch events live or watch them on demand later.
2) It's November in Canada...it's cold! I went to the event at Varsity yesterday and while I stayed for the whole event, I was freezing the entire time. There were a couple thousand people in the stands, and a hundred or more gathered outside the stadium.
3) 57 people at Cupid's ... the total population is 700! Not to mention the fact, the United Church was packed...most of the town came out!
4) I was outside of the Carlu with the Prince and Duchess came to the Ontario Government's reception, and there was a crowd of probably 200 plus curious shoppers walking down Yonge street. Not bad for a rainy cold work night in Toronto.
The tone of the press, particularly the CBC, has been horrible. Whether you're a monarchist or republican or just don't care either way, TRH are guests in our country; let's try and show the world what we're known for: being welcoming and opened minded people.
