I've noticed what I am sure is a successful example of rigging the results of the 'agree/disagree' stats on the CBC site. For almost all of the life of the thread about the Ontario leg of the royal visit, the comments were quite noticeably in favour of the monarchy. However, on the last day that the thread was accessible ie just before it scrolled off the end of the 'more headlines (Canada)' list, the stats changed dramatically. Though new postings had dropped to almost nothing and the thread had almost expired, suddenly the agree/disagree figures changed so that the anti-monarchists appeared to have a clear majority. While time consuming, such manipulation could easily be done using multiple email accounts or proxy IP addresses. However it was done, someone is obviously fiddling with the stats. You simply don't get that kind of change when a thread has practically expired and anybody interested has already read it. Judging by the amount of sheer lunacy that the anti-monarchists post on the CBC site we should keep our eyes open for this.
