I like your proposal very much. If Prince William (say) one day becomes King of Canada, no less than King of the United Kingdom, then he should reside in both of his realms (and Australia and New Zealand as King of Australia and King of NZ). If we all share a king, we should share his presence. Whether this is practical is another question, but in principle it makes great sense.
I would be intrigued to know if the possibility of Princes William and Harry residing in Canada and Australia for extended periods (say, 6 - 12 months) has ever been considered in London, Ottawa and Canberra and, if so, who might have objected to the idea (likely Ottawa, but maybe the Princes too). Millions of students take a "gap year" to travel abroad before they go to university. Many others spend a year abroad during their degrees. It's a pity Princes William and Harry did not do that and spend 6 months each in Canada and Australia.
