But they have not yet, thank goodness, interviewed a well-known republican on television (i.e. Tom Freda, Peter Donolo). I was actually surprised to see on CTV an interview with Macleans' Paul Wells about the monarchy wherein he admitted to being a supporter. I suppose not all media personalities are republicans.
For some reason I'm just bothered by the patronising tone some (but not all) CBC anchors have lorded over Canadians about the royal visit, for example: "Royal watchers caught a glimpse of the Royals today. This Royal fan is so excited to see the Royals, etc. etc. etc."
I recall reading a while ago, too, and I agree, that the Monarchist League of Canada (and presumably similar organisations) are not "fan clubs" in the most basic sense of the word.
