I also agree fully. That British photographer interviewed by the C.B.C., who thinks the Monarchy will end in Canada after the Queen's reign, obviously knows nothing about the Canadian Constitution. What ought to occur to the C.B.C. (in addition to the fact that many of the venues being attended by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are simply not designed to be gathering places for crowds and often no specific timetables for their visits are being published) is that now that, in the name of equality, the Royal Family are or ought to be treated in Canada just as they are in Britain, people will simply not turn out in the thousands for their appearance. When I lived in London for a year in 1981-82, at a time when The Times published that day's royal events, I went out a couple of times to see the Queen visiting a particular venue. The small crowds in each case were easily contained on the sidewalk in front of the concern being visited. The important thing was not crowds but that the people involved with the concern being visited were experiencing the Queen expressing her appreciation of them and focussing at least a small bit of media attention on them.
In addition to telling us to watch but often not telling us when, the C.B.C. has made a practice on this visit of interviewing people indifferent or hostile to the Monarchy in Canada; I'm sure the media could find comparable indifferent people on the streets of London in a comparable situation.
