That's not true at all. There are no "grand public spectacles" or other "grand events" because the pattern of Royal Tours in 1939 and 1950's has changed with modern communications. Who wants to stand on a street corner when you can see it all on tv or the net?
Also it's not true at all that these visits are "exclusive". As a League member I've attended all sorts of events with Royal family members present and they mingled with everyone. And like a whole group of us members are going Thursday to the Stadium where anyone can go or on Friday to the Winter Fair which has made free admission. And there will probably 25,000 people in Ottawa at the War Memorial on Remberance Day where EVERYONE can come to see the Prince and Duchess and honor our brave soldiers. Same thing in Victoria where the welcome is being held at the Parliament buildings and anyone can come. Aren't they both "grand spectacles?" You bet they are!!! So don't criticize what isn't true. This tour has TONNES of open events and very few "exclusive" ones except for a few dinners and receptions where obviously you can't feed the whole world !
