I have seen a number of articles on the relevancy of the Monarchy in Canada. I think some of the best responses can be found here... http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/article972761.ece
If Prince Charles is prohibited from taking private visits to the country even when he wants to, and cannot visit Canada officially with out the invitation of politicians and the bureaucrats they supervise, it's no wonder the Monarchy seems irrelevant. If the Monarchy is to be seen as relevant in Canada, the barriers preventing the Royal Family from participating in Canadian civil society and state matters need to be removed. The big question remains How can those barriers be overcome?
