The news reports on this item claim that it was commissioned by "Canadian friends of the Royal Family".
I've never heard of any organization by that name, and the fact that 'friends' is not capitalized suggests that it is just some private individuals who _claim_ to be friends of the Royal Family.
But how do we know?
Is it not a problem for news organizations to uncritically report unsubstantiated claims?
For all we know, the so-called friends might be republicans like John Manley and Peter Donolo. At least that would explain the rather bizarre questions.
