Polls about the monarchy are skewed in Canada because of Quebec where a majority of the population is anti-monarchy. That being said, there is a significant rise in support for abolishing ties to the Crown. It has more to do with apathy on the parts of many Canadian; not just of the monarchy, but of most of our national institutions.
I'm still positive the tour will be a success (though I'm not pleased with the delay in releasing the full itinerary). We've seen this time and time again before a royal tour. The media goes on its anti-monarchy crusade, and what happens, thousands of people still show up. I suspect with TRH here next week and HM here next year, numbers will go up.
That being said, we as Monarchist must be extra vigilant now. I believe we are entering a difficult time for the monarchy in Canada. The Queen is still very popular and respected, but as her reign nears its end (hopefully not for another decade or two from now) questions about the future are going to become louder and more and more frequent.
Finally, I did not like the CBC report. The whole tone of the report was very negative and not neutral at all.
