I'm writing an essay about “Has Canada’s system of constitutional monarchy helped or hindered the democratic process, and should an alternative be adopted?”
When I explained the basis of my argument to my TA, she said: "Can you demonstrate that the head of state ensures stability and curbs excesses etc? I am not sure that can. I have never heard this argument.” ![]()
Does that make any sense? Isn’t it pretty well established that our constitutional monarchy maintains government stability and ensures that elected officials don’t abuse their power? I’m under the impression that it is!
Any thoughts?
