I got around to looking at the GGs new website after all the fuss and I thought it is nothing like as bad as people on here have been saying. It makes it clear that the Queen is Head of State and it gives you a quick link to Canadian government pages on Her Majesty, with pictures of her etc.
There are things to moan about (they put the Queen after rather than before the GG when they talk about congratulatory messages and they say the Queen 'defers' to the GG about messages when they mean the Queen delegates responsibility for answering them to the GG).
However, overall the site makes it clear how the GG represents the Queen and also how modern and useful this traditional role is.
If I could change one thing it would be to include a picture of the Queen on the site somewhere, but as it is the GGs site not the Queens I can live with it.
