Wilson, although you say that there is no mention of the PM nor the executive in parliament, you forget that Canada has a parliamentary device that allows for tradition to influence what occurs or how they occur in parliament. The PM gains a lot of his or her power from this.
This emphasis on tradition is one of the reasons why control over the military is linked not to the GG but to the elected official with the military under their portfolio in the parliament.
Also, I did not mean to imply that the crown has been cruel to Canada.
Next, the GG had her ability to prorogue or interfere in politics greatly curtailed in the early 20th century. Now, the GG takes most of her directives from the PM from the precedents set out almost a century ago. To prorogue government it's under the control of the PM.
Anyways, I'm surprised my mini-essay was posted here. It was posted into a message board that was cut off from the public and, well, was only accessible by members of the Youth Liberal Party of Canada in the CYA. I suppose someone thought it was pertinent to the conversation--who isn't Jerry Wong. Or, at least, was the intermediary between the forum and Mr. Wong thought it was pertinent.
It's worrisome to see this leak of an essay that was made in confidence to other party members. Oh well. It also seems like a lot of the formatting mistakes from someone copy-pasting it straight off from the forum... which is saddening, because it makes the exploration of my ideas more clunky and misapplied.
Oh well. I think she's an important part of the Canadian identity all the same. Same with the GG and other parts of the crown in Canada.

P.S.
It would probably take a zombie invasion to push the monarchy to take over the country. Hah.
