Imagine how Canadians would react to the appointment of a supreme court judge who resided in Greece. After all, you don't need to be a resident of Canada to interpret law and render decisions. And wouldn't living in Greece give you a beneficial world view? And where one live doesn't make one more or less Canadian right?
That's the sell you're faced with if you want to either convince Canadians that a non-resident head of state is a good thing or they're being Canadian-centric in wanting such a thing.
It's a tough sell and may make our cause look like it's simply rationalizing.
It's not a bad thing to concede that we'd rather have a resident monarch but the benefits of a non-resident monarch still outweigh the cons.
