I'm sorry Rita, but your information is incorrect.
While posted to Afghanistan in 2006-2007, I was directed to fill out a memorial cross form directing 4 persons of my choosing to whom would recieve the cross in the event of my untimely death. In the past the Canadian Gov't would usually give a cross to the mother and wife of the deceased. Now, as there are blended families, soliders divorced and re-married several times over, it was easier for the soldier to direct who they wanted to give this momento to.
