It's important to remember that these polls often come out at a time when no recent royal tour or visit has taken place. Sadly, the polls state what we already know, that the Government of Canada could care less about the monarchy and the office of the Governor General ignores the monarchy except when members of the Royal Family are actually in Canada. Slippery slope that will continue as long as Canadians prefer to be "like everyone else" instead of being bold and true to our history and our values. Canadians are generally to agreeable to change for the sake of change, especially when it comes to our social fabric, history and culture. The expression "water it down" comes to mind.
