Fellow Monarchists,
I took my students on a tour of Rideau Hall today. The pleasant but painfully uninformed guide asked.."What is the role of the Governor General?" One of my students replied "Represent the Queen".Imagine my shock when the guide replied "No, she represents youth". Trying not to embarrass her, I gently reminded her that Her Majesty in head of state. The guide replied that she was not aware of it, but finally said the "Governor General represents the Crown, but the Crown is not the Queen". I looked on the GG's web and sure enough, the Crown is mentioned, but it seems to be separate from the Queen. Please watch fellow Monarchists. The term 'Crown' is morphing into a squishy nothing term, that will be replaced be something else. I've e-mailed Rideau Hall expressing my disappointment.
