As for D-Day, the Canadian government's silence on the failure to invite our head of state to this D-Day "Franco-American event" seems to me to be a further illustration of the current government's systemic apporoach of relegating the Monarch to the back burner. Raising the issue with the French or anyone else would only have highlighted the fact Her Majesty is our head of state and this is evidently quite simply not on the government agenda.
