The UK still has an assent ceremony that coincides with prorogation. The monarch sends a Royal Commission to do it, though, as has been done since the reign of Victoria. (The only time, I believe, a monarch has personally given assent anywhere since then was when George VI did it in Ottawa in 1939.)
