In Canada, Royal Assent must be given in Parliament assembled at least twice in each calendar year, and this must be done for the first supply bill of a session. This can of course be given either by the Governor General or one of her deputies.
Other than that, Royal Assent can also be given by written declaration, which takes force when the two chambers have been informed of the declaration. Again, this can be given by either the GG or one of her deputies.
