I have actually been working on a model. SHIPS AS WELL! Photos coming soon of...
Lindberg Blue Devil Ships & Co USS Kiluaea Trumpeter USS Detroit
Detroit and Kil are both 700th scale. I believe Kil is going to be USS Mount Shasta or USS Mount Baker. Not sure yet. Detroit is going to be herself. The Lindy will be USS Melvin. I have the Tom's Modelworks photo etch set and have been sanding down all of her superfluous deck detail. Once that's done, I have the Floating Drydock plans so I'm just gonna do deck by deck and add stuff thats there. I plan on doing all phone boxes and wiring ducts using scrap box Evergreen strips.
On the plane front, I have a 48th scale Hobbyboss A-7A that I am going to do as an A-7E. One of our model club members flew E's during Operation El Dorado Canyon so I'm going to do his bird. Next in line will be three box-scale beauties: Revell/Mono USS Yorktown with a ton of Matty Models parts and a Mono USS Coral Sea likewise. I also have a Mono USS Chicago.
Doesn't sound like you're having trouble building a model, to me - Good On Ya! Will be very interested to see virtually all of those - particularly your Detroit. 'Tis one of those Classes I have dreams and A Plan to build (bashed from another kit, in 500-ish scale, o'course), but sadly as usual lately am hopelessly back in The Weeds with everything else (most of which doesn't even have to do with modeling)!
So, post any- and all pics you want to, and allow me to Model Vicariously through your various confections, Donny!
(Do I even have that class right?) Anyway, I'm thinking the pre-WWII CL - likely Marblehead, or some such - you know, Old School...
And for that my eye is on the Mirage 1/400 Four-Piper DD kit - which, near as I can figure has about exactly the right-shape hull - and would scale out to a 500-something scale CL.
