Again, this isn't my real forte (my scale), but the Trumpeter aircraft I was trying to remember were on Kelly Quirk's 1/350 USS Truman CVN-75 which, including TomCats alongside Hornets looks like a circa Gulf War I timeframe, again (even) much later than your ~1965 period of interest. But that model took Best-Of-Show (best model, of any category) at this year's IPMS Nationals in Columbus (OH).
Anyway my point is that his planes - which I am assuming are Trumpeter accessories - look pretty decent, from the photos and if they are indeed Trumpy then I would expect much more (variety of selection), where they came from.
I'll keep an eye out for you on eBay too, buddy.
