That is exciting news, Mike! And I had indeed been engineering some hull upgrades for the Revell (and other) flat-bottom cruisers. Sadly, the work has languished due to demand for other items (including those 3" and 5" guns you mentioned, Mikey). (Meanwhile, I also have Dave Wells riding my a** for SPG-55 missile directors
- technically, "illuminators" - an item that will be released, sooner or later!)
Mike, your idea for "plastic surgery", using the MonoVell Chicago hull was of course my inspiration for the above - and its re-release accordingly raises an interesting question. If the new Chicago kit will cost about $25.00 and my hull upgrade for a Helena or Boston will cost about the same (it probably should be higher, but let's just say $25 for the sake of argument) then, will most builders, for the same money spent either way, prefer the ease of a "bolt-on" hull correction, or would they rather do the extra work cutting up and refitting a Chicago hull but also end up with the whole remainder of the Chicago for their parts box?
This is the kind of question frequently driving my decisions about which items to develop, and how much effort is justified. What do you (anybody out there) think?
Cheers,
-Matty
