Hi Penny, I am the current police community officer for Misterton and the following text has been pulled from another misterton site.
(Hi,
My great, great grandfather, William Robinson, was christened in Misterton in 1837, though I think he was born in nearby Stockwith. His parents were Samuel Robinson and Rebecca Rusling. William and his father were watermen and I can picture them on the canal.
Great site, would love to visit Misterton one day to see where my ancestors came from.
I woud love to hear from anyone with any information about the Robinsons or Ruslings, anyone with any connection to my ancestors, or anyone who knows anything about the canal way of life.
Thanks, Jan)
If it is of any use to you then visit http://www.mistertononline.freeserve.co.uk/

good luck
