My neighbours alarm sounded at 2.05am, I knew they were on holiday and had been for some time, I was in bed as you may imagine, so I rang the police and much to my surprise was told they would only respond if there was suspicious activity!
I had to get dressed and find a torch to check it out - the operative kindly reminded me to take a phone with me!
Now I don't mind being community spirited but do object in the strongest possible terms that NO RESPONSE was given. Makes us roll over and go to sleep the next time it happens, and ignore the alarm. You hear of burglars setting alarms off deliberately to gauge response (if any)and then returning to get their booty. So I waited and watched, and watched in a vain attempt to see something or somebody.....luckily, it appeared a false alarm on this occaision.
But hey, helps the police make a case for not reponding next time, after all they must be busy at 2.05am on a tuesday morning......
