MDF window sills swelling

Has anyone in the mililani mauka area had issues with their window sills swelling over time? Unfortunately, C&C used MDF in all the windows sill in my home. I'm not an expert, but I think over time water may have leaked through the window frame and into/under the sill, which has caused the MDF to swell as it became waterlogged. I was thinking of filing a claim with my insurance company but I think that C&C should be held responsible. My home is only about 5 years old now.
