The Mililani Mauka Neighborhood board put a temporary stop to this project at their Aug 15 board meeting. The key word being "temporary." Parents need to monitor and follow up on this so that this one does NOT slip on by us to the detriment of the health of our kids. If you're reading this and were not aware of this, please get involved. If you feel that this doesn't affect you because you do not live near 'Ike, think again. Clearwire may put other antennas up at Kipapa, Uka, Mauka, Waena, or any other location. Mr. Nakasato may be reached at his office at Ike. Contact the Mauka neighborhood board via the Honolulu C & C Neighborhood board website. Stop this antenna before it's too late.
Clearwire Inc, a company that provides wireless broadband services, is attempting to become an ISP for the Mililani Mauka community. The problem that many parents of children who attend Mililani 'Ike Elementary School (near top of Mililani Mauka) have with this company is that they want to place their ANTENNA TRANSMITTER on the campus of Mililani Ike. Electromagnetic fields (EMF), emitted by many sources (power lines, computers, etc) has been known to cause various types of health disorders. With an antenna in such close proximity to CHILDREN for 10 months out of the year and operating 24/7 at a higher power, can Clearwire assure the Mauka population that there is absolutely ZERO risk to the CHILDREN?
