The reason why I hardly ever go to the Fur Den. If they can't remember my password, why should I? : so, here it is *grin*: : Just a couple of thangs.... In Oz, there are 3.5 Million folks Thanks for that one. Possibly it's the same with the Outback of the US of A. Still, Albefurs could use their current pictures as thumbnails for bigger ones - a very tried-and-tested technique. ;-) So much for 'Best viewed at a nnn x nnn resolution' sites. I can imagine it's easier to design a page around a smaller picture, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible, and again, where's the priority? Of course, most people are subconsciously aware of design issues, but ultimately it's the fur coat that has to be sold, not the brilliant page lay-out. Best regards, M.K.

Hello Piotr,
: I was going to post this at your blog.... but... didn't wanna have
: tp remember another bloody password *sigh* (I is gettin' old)...
: Hey Mikhail...
: connected via Broadband, but we are still locked into 17th
: position on the OECD connectivity list. (... ) So, Mate *grin* One doesn't need to live in a third world country
: to still be stuck on 56 modem.
: As for the resolution of websites, as I pointed out over at The
: Fur Den, my Geocities site has shown a rather interesting movement
: in the resolutions used. 600 x 480 has vanished from the planet
: and even 800 x 600 is not that strong anymore. As monitors and
: video cards get better and cheaper so the resolutions used are
: increasing so that the standard is 1200 x 768 with more than a
: quarter of visitors having LARGER resolutiuons available.
To add to all the bewildering possibilities, I moved up to 1680 x 1050 broadscreen a couple of months ago, and put my old screen on its side to use it as a 1024 x 1280 for my secondary computer.
: Having never used Macromedia to author a site, I can't say if it
: does it at the 600 x 480 rate by choice (read default) or if the
: designers are stuck in a time warp and don't know which way to
: jump.
If you look around in books and in daily life in general, there's so much evidence for designer prima donna behavior at the users' cost, and I can't stand it!
