In Oz, there are 3.5 Million folks connected via Broadband, but we are still locked into 17th position on the OECD connectivity list. This is because we have a Government that sees itself as preserving the 50's and a major telco that although owned 50% by the Federal Govt, is being sold of within this quarter and uses this and other reasons as a way of not bringing the world to australian doorsteps, because they OWN the phone lines, but can't charge like wounded bulls to onsell. Gawd alone knows when my brother will get broadband... and yet a town twenty miles from his HAS it... mainly due to State Goverment departments. So, Mate *grin* One doesn't need to live in a third world country to still be stuck on 56 modem. As for the resolution of websites, as I pointed out over at The Fur Den, my Geocities site has shown a rather interesting movement in the resolutions used. 600 x 480 has vanished from the planet and even 800 x 600 is not that strong anymore. As monitors and video cards get better and cheaper so the resolutions used are increasing so that the standard is 1200 x 768 with more than a quarter of visitors having LARGER resolutiuons available. Having never used Macromedia to author a site, I can't say if it does it at the 600 x 480 rate by choice (read default) or if the designers are stuck in a time warp and don't know which way to jump. As for image size.... yeah, they are small... WEG Especially at 1280 x 1024 *grin*
I was going to post this at your blog.... but... didn't wanna have tp remember another bloody password *sigh* (I is gettin' old)... so, here it is *grin*:
