Did you know there's a mention of Pre-Raphaelite artist William Holman Hunt's painting "The Light of the World" in the 20th century American classic novel, _To Kill A Mockingbird_? Or that Colin in _The Secret Garden_ describes a painting that sounds very much like Alma-Tadema's "Spring?"
