I am doing the same thing but after 37 years in school practices. The rehab site I am going to be working in currently has cog rehab and dysphagia but in the process of becoming a sub-acute site for post CVA patients form two of our local hospitals. I found ASHA's prof ed programs detailing swallowing physiology, treatment protocols & eval procedures & interpretations to be quite helpful for the crash course in getting up to speed in dysphagia. So much in neuro & cog rehab to keep up with but the handouts from the ASHA convention are available on line and they have an easy search toolbar to type in the category or specific area you want info on. Then if it was presented at ASHA, you get their handout or powerpoint and usually each presenter has references at the end to direct you further. I am arranging to shadow a nearby hospital SLP and exploring apps for my iPad. I'll keep you posted on what I discover. Let's keep encouraging one another!!
