In fact withthe demise of the DV STD definition format ALL the manufacturers wasted a fabulous marketing opportunity especially Sony to utilise all 4 DV channels simultaneously. They did it on the DCR1000 and the new dinky PC1000. Sony are on a downward slide and the Sony Ipod was there biggest cockup letting Apple steal the show. Am after DLP HD rear screen projection TV . Seen HD WNM HD demos and its exactly what we need for those holiday and wedding memories. Word of warning. DV STD 3 chip playback through these sets is absolute crap compared to CRT , this is due to poor scaling on board, so be warned old footage will be a joke to watch. Next year Sony have palm sized 3 chip HDTV camera for consumer use and its similar to any other holiday camcorder size. 3rd Generation HD Camcorders may have 0 lux and we could be 2-3 years away, and likely to be last of the tape base camcorders. Time we has Laptop cased/cartidge plugin Hard drives as next best option. regards Gerry --Previous Message--

Not seen any demos yet,
The Sony FX1 looks likely purchase, but will be a white elephant within 12 months, it suffers from serious audio noise problems etc as read via web. I am also unhappy about its lo light sensitivity especially having got used to 3 chip low light luxury missing from past cameras etc
