Matt - thanks for the response. I doubt that I'll be able to find one to borrow. I think I'll post the question on the Matrox site and see if there's anyone who's worked with them on a RT2500 system.

: Hi there!
: We use a couple of 80-160 gig USB2
: drives at my work as well as a few
: others out at places we've sold to
: for use in backup systems. They've
: worked on the whole VERY well. They
: seem to be quite fast. It's
: definately nice to have such a
: portable drive... also nice to be
: able to, say, use it with a desktop
: computer and then do portable work
: with a laptop.
: The only thing I would worry about
: specifically when it comes to video
: would be the amount of data moving
: across the PCI bus when you're using
: both a PCI RT.X100 or RT2x00 as well
: as a PCI USB2.0 card. I think it
: would be different for integrated
: USB2.0 systems, but perhaps not. You
: may end up with difficulties with
: that, especially when reading from
: multiple streams at the same time.
: I think I would borrow one and run
: the Matrox speed diagnostics on it to
: make sure that it's capable enough.
: Cheers!

: One of my 2 40 gig drives just died,
: and I need to replace it. A friend
: suggested a USB 2 drive. Are they
: fast enough to support video work?
