firewire to external DVD recorder and digital VHS recorder

Has anyone been able to make an RT2000 export to either a philips DVDR 890 or a JVC HM DH10000 Digital VHS recorder?
I've scanned the forums and can find reference to the subject but no answers.
Is there a trick (or drivers) that will allow the Premier 6 timeline under Matrox to export to these devices using firewire?
I can get Windows ME to recognise the DVDR under Sound and Video devices but cannot get Matrox to communicate with it.
The JVC Digital recorder brings up a yellow question mark and is not handshaking and again can not be exported to.
I'm not expecting machine control but wonder if anyone has any ideas about tricking the RT2000 to put a signal on the firewire.
Any help appreciated.
