It's very strange that you have device control of the deck but the capture window shows up transparent. It's even more strange when you take into account that all works fine with the JVC camcorder.
: Tried your suggestion, but with
: "none" chosen under device
: control (which is what I use for
: analogue capture), the capture screen
: comes up transparent (you can see
: whatever is behind the capture
: screen). Tried the DV Device Control
: 2 setting, and was able to specify my
: deck and got device control, but
: still got the transparent box and
: when tried to capture got an error
: message saying there was a problem
: with the capture. Very strange, no?

: I'm glad the D8 is now working for
: you
: but I have no idea why the miniDV
: would work with the 2000 and not the
: 2500. To test the 2500 can you
: connect the firewire to the miniDV
: deck and do a movie capture and then
: press play on the miniDV deck? This
: should allow a manual capture from
: the Sony GV-300 miniDV deck to the
: 2500.

: Never even thought of that
: possibility.
: But still have the problem of the
: 2500 not seeing the miniDV deck...

: I also have a Digital 8 camcorder and
: I
: think I remember seeing the "no
: tape" problem after doing one of
: the MVT upgrades. If you are trying
: to capture from a tape make sure the
: tape is write protected at the time
: of capture. If you are going to
: print to tape then make sure the tape
: is not write protected. Let me know
: this works to fix the "no
: tape" error.

: I have both and RT2000 and a 2500.
: Just
: got the 2500 a month or so back, and
: have had a couple of problems, but
: nothing major. One of the primary
: capture problems is that the system
: will not recognize my Sony GV-300
: miniDV deck, which the 2000 sees
: fine. It will capture from my JVC
: miniDV camcorder, however. The
: problem with that is that the
: camcorder tends to clog the heads
: fairly quickly, so I can't depend on
: it for long captures. In device
: manager, when I unplug the 1394 cable
: from the camcorder and plug it into
: the deck, the camcorder driver driver
: disappears but doesn't reappear, as
: it does when I do that on the 2000.
: The other thing is that with my
: Digital 8 camcorder I have device
: control, but when I try to capture I
: get an error message saying there's
: no tape in the camcorder (though
: there is) and it couldn't locate the
: in point. This happens on both
: systems, which is doubly strange as I
: captured many hours of video on the
: 2000 with that camcorder several
: months ago. I've posted this at
: Matrox and haven't had any reply. Any
: of you gurus have an idea of what's
: going on? The OS on both is Win2000,
: and both machines were turn-key units
: from Matrox approved resellers, and I
: haven't messed with any settings. TIA
